The study of still unknown species of animals. These cryptids, as they are called, include not only the Loch Ness monster, sasquatch and other "mega-monsters", but also many lesser known mystery creatures.

Loch Ness Monster

Sometimes called Nessie, is a creature or group of creatures said to live in Loch Ness, a deep freshwater loch (lake) near the city of Inverness in northern Scotland. Nessie is generally categorized as a lake monster.


  • Giant Octopus

    The octopus is a cephalopod of the order Octopoda that inhabits many diverse regions of the ocean, especially coral reefs. The term may also refer to only those creatures in the genus Octopus.
  • Chupacabra

    A creature said to inhabit parts of the Americas. It is associated particularly with Puerto Rico (where it was first reported), Mexico, and the United States, especially in the latter's Latin American communities.
  • Ghost Ship

    A ghost ship is an unexplained ghostly ship. They are usually ships that have been lost at sea or have been sunk, but somehow mysteriously reappear. Some ghost ships are merely ships that reappear after their crew mysteriously disappears without any explanation or dies by some sea disease.
  • Ghost Town

    A ghost town is a town that has been abandoned, usually because the economic activity that supported it has failed or because of natural or human-caused disasters.
  • Bigfoot

    Along with the Loch Ness Monster and Yeti, Bigfoot is perhaps the most famous creature in cryptozoology.
